Today is a wonderful day in the Lakes Districts, Argentinean Patagonia. The sky is clear and the sun shines bright in the valley. Mary and John is a middle-aged couple from London who have chosen Patagonia as their destination for an adventurous but relaxing week off. This morning they get ready for a half day tour of kayaking, paddling and exploring on a nearby picturesque Lake.

The guide arrives early and gives them instructions about paddling, teamwork and safety matters. After that, Mary and John go into their kayak, ready for their venture.

The team begins paddling in crystal clear waters, listening to the original stories of this beautiful land: from the indigenous roots to the experiences of the first Europeans and Criollo settlers. If they remain silent and observant, they may see a jumping trout!

Our travelers hear about local species and discover the song of a bird. “It’s a macá”, the guide says, “a water bird often seen in this place.” They observe a wide variety of trees such as Coihue, Radal, Small Myrtles and Native Cypress that are predominant in this area. The time goes by watching calm bays and an isolated island at the foot of Mount López.

While paddling under the sun, they see a cage floating in the water only a short distance ahead. They conjure a little more strength and begin paddling towards it. It looks like an old box someone left behind. Neither can tell exactly what it is. As they get closer and discover. They realize that they have the opportunity to seize with this impeccable lake.

As they approach the box, the guide takes it out of the water and places it into the kayak. With some difficulty he opens it and, to their astonishment, there is a bottle of chilled champagne, crystal glasses, a bouquet of wild flowers native from Patagonia, as well as a box of artisanal chocolates. “It is the perfect treasure at the right moment!” Mary says. However, despite the delicious surprise, John looks a bit nervous…

They sate their appetite by enjoying this treat and, when they are about to finish, inside one of the chocolates there is engagement ring! John gets the best of his nerves and asks for Mary’shand in marriage amongst the evergreen forests and balmy Argentinian sunshine. And of course, she accepts!

After recovering from this lifetime moment they decide to return to the coast. Upon arrival, the crew finds a spot in a little hidden beach by the lake and goes for some rest. As they approach they discover a specially prepared table with a variety of local cheeses, smoked venisonand salmon, all sorts of drinks and desserts for the new fiancées.

Exploring and paddling the lakes in Patagonia has never been more exciting. As with Mary and John, other visitors can discover this wilderness area coroneted with beautiful waterfalls and impressive views of the Mountains of the Cordillera de los Andes. Then, enjoy a delicious gourmet lunch specially set for them along the lakeside.

Travelers can combine a kayak tour with other outdoor activities of their preference such us hiking, trekking, mountain biking and more. Of course, they can also expect the ALCHEMIST TEAM surprise them unexpectedly. That’s what we are about.
